won his first state medal at the PIAA Cross Country Championships, while
Corning junior Angie McKane turned in record-breaking performances at
the Section IV, Class A Swimming & Diving Championships. They are

COWANESQUE VALLEY’S MIZDAIL NAMED BOYS REGIONAL “ATHLETE OF THE WEEK”
Mizdail
finished 11th at the PIAA Cross Country Championships, clocking in at
16:50.3 on the 3.1-mile course for his first career state medal.
Mizdail,
who placed second at the District 4 meet, was running in 29th place at
the 1-mile mark, but took advantage of the Hershey hills in the second
mile to move into the top 15.
He reeled in a few more runners in the final sprint to the finish line.

Owego's Ben Rollison (soccer), and Troy's Jackson Taylor (football).
CORNING’S McKANE NAMED GIRLS REGIONAL “ATHLETE OF THE WEEK”McKane
walked out of the Section 4, Class A Championships with all-American
consideration times in two events, multiple pool records, and Section 4
meet records.
In the 50-yard freestyle, McKane broke the Section 4
overall meet record, and the Class A meet record. She set a new pool
record at Watkins Glen and she hit an all-American consideration time of
23.53 seconds. Her time was also the fastest in the state this year.
In
the 100-yard butterfly, she hit an all-American consideration time and
she broke the Section 4, Class A meet record in the event. She already
held the pool record in the event, and has the fastest time in the state
this year by more than a half-second.
As the leadoff of the 400
free relay, McKane’s 100 free time set a meet record, a pool record and
was a state qualifying time. McKane’s time is fourth-fastest in the
state this year.
McKane was named the outstanding athlete of the Section 4, Class A meet.
