PIAA VOLLEYBALL: NORTH PENN-LIBERTY TO OPEN STATE PLAYOFFS TUESDAY (2022-11-07)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportLAKE LEHMAN — With their District IV, Class AA championship win last Thursday, the North Penn-Liberty volleyball team will make their return to the State playoffs on Tuesday, traveling to Lake Lehman to take on the Division 2 champion Lady Knights.
Lake Lehman enters the championship tournament with a 14-6 overall record. They halted perennial-power Holy Redeemer’s run of 16 straight District 2 titles with a 3-0 win in the finals last week.
The Lady Mounties enter States with a 19-1 record .. with their only loss on the season coming against District 2 Class 4A runner-up Central Mountain.
The two teams have a common opponent in Athens .. who NPL took nine straight sets against in three wins this season .. while Lake Lehman beat the Wildcats 3-2 on September 24th.
The winner of Tuesday’s match-up will advance to play the winner of Tuesday’s game between District 12 champ Colwell-Egan (16-6) and District 11 winner Notre Dame Greenpond (15-4).
