Northern Tier West Sports ReportTIOGA COUNTY — With the winter sports season finally underway and a handful of teams in action at the end of the first week, here are our Laurel Health ‘Athletes of the Week’.
Girls Basketball
Elizabeth Ritchie, North Penn-Liberty
The senior led the Lady Mounties to a 1-1 record at their hosted Ryan Ostrom Tournament, scoring 15 points in a 44-34 win over Canton and 14 points in the title-game loss to Addison.
Boys Basketball
Kristian Mizdail, Williamson
The junior led the Warriors to a runner-up finish at the Galeton Tournament, scoring 23 points in a 50-43 win over Austin and 20 points in their 50-46 loss to Galeton in the final.
Wrestling
Tim Freeman, Williamson
The sophomore had one of the Warriors’ seven falls .. in 1:33 .. in a 64-12 season-opening win over NEB.
