NTWSR PRESENTS THE 2022 ALL-TIOGA COUNTY FOOTBALL TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL AWARD WINNERS (2022-12-06)

Northern Tier West Sports Report
TIOGA COUNTY — It wasn’t quite the football season in the West that anyone had hoped for, or expected, but the lack of team successes doesn’t mean that there weren’t some phenomenal performances put on by our athletes, which the Northern Tier West Sports Report would like to recognize with our All-Tioga County Football Team.

North Penn-Mansfield had the best season among our Tioga County teams, finishing 3-7 in the regular season. Due to District IV requiring that eight AA teams make the playoffs, the Panthers ended their season with a 60-20 loss to then-undefeated Mount Carmel in the first round.

The Panthers had wins over Wyalusing (2-8), and over our other two West squads .. Cowanesque Valley (0-9) and Wellsboro (1-9).

The NTWSR ‘Player of the Year’ and ‘Offensive Player of the Year’ is North Penn-Mansfield quarterback Karson Dominick. The junior finished with solid numbers running the Panther’s offense, throwing for 1,498 yards and 13 touchdowns, while rushing for another five scores.

Dominick completed 141 of his 304 passing attempts, to nine different teammates. His three interceptions led the Panther defense, and he shared punting duties for NPM as well.

The ‘Defensive Player of the Year’ is Wellsboro’s Cameron Brought. The senior two-way lineman recorded 100 tackles on the season, had four sacks and two fumble recoveries for the Hornets.

Our ’Newcomer of the Year’ for football is Wellsboro’s Will Gastrock. The sophomore finished with over 700 total yards .. 453 passing, 149 rushing, 48 receiving, 100 return .. and seven total touchdowns. On defense, Gastrock had 69 tackles for the Hornets.

Cowanesque Valley’s Fletcher Good is the ‘Versatility’ player of the season, as the sophomore finished with 749 yards rushing, 271 yards receiving and nine total touchdowns for the Indians.

NPM Panthers joining their QB on the All-Tioga County offense are running back Kohen Lehman .. 830 yards rushing, 295 yards receiving, 8TD .. receiver Sammy Lawrence .. 40 rec., 567 yards, 7 TD .. and linemen Jacob Johnson and Dante Stiger.

Brought is joined by Hornet teammate Hayes Campbell on the offensive line, as well as by receiver Jack Poirier .. 20 rec., 287 yds, 2 TD .. and ‘Athlete’ Conner Adams .. 548 yds. passing, 138 yds. rushing, 173 yds. receiving, 11 TD.

CV’s Aspyn Dennis rounds out the offensive lineup as an All-Tioga County lineman.

Defensively, Hornets Brought and Campbell anchor the line and are joined by North Penn-Mansfield’s Cody Hermansen and Daniel Sherant.

The linebacker corp includes Wellsboro’s Ryder Bowen, CV’s Tim Freeman and NP-Mansfield’s Ethan Dick and George Valentine.

Our DB’s are Dominick and Gabe Bellows from NP-Mansfield and Wellsboro’s Spencer Wetzel, while the 'Utility' player is Gastrock and Poirier is the kicker and the punter.
