DISTRICT IV WRESTLING: WILLIAMSON CONCLUDES SEASON AT CHAMPIONSHIPS (2023-02-25)

WILLIAMSPORT — All five of Williamson’s wrestlers lost in their consolation bouts Saturday morning and were eliminated from the District IV AA Championships, ending the Warriors’ season.

At 107 pounds, freshman Hunter Simonds lost 15-3 to North Penn-Liberty’s Brayden Pequignot to be eliminated, after falling to eventual 6th-place finisher Ty Locke Friday night. Simonds ends his freshman season with a record of 20-13.

At 145 pounds, senior Ayden Sprague opened Districts with a loss to eventual 4th-place finisher Chase Burke from Benton on Friday night, then fell to 5th-place finisher Lane Schadel from Line Mountain on Saturday morning to end his post-season run. Sprague finishes his senior season with a 25-9 mark, and an 80-42 career record for the Warriors.

Joel Hultz was knocked from the tournament Saturday morning with a 14-2 loss to eventual 3rd-place finisher Coy Bryson from Mount Carmel, after falling to 160-pound 6th-place finisher Kohen Shingara from Line Mountain Friday night. Hultz finishes his junior season with a record of 22-14.

At 172 pounds, Tim Freeman opened Districts with a loss to eventual runner-up Cole Shupp from Warrior Run, then lost 16-1 to Danville’s Aaron Johnson, who placed 5th. Freeman completes his sophomore season with a record of 18-16.

Luke Sottolano was a late addition to the District 215-pound class, and the freshman lost to South Williamsport’s Ryan Cassella, who placed 7th, and to Sugar Valley’s Kyle Stahl, who finished 6th. Sottolano’s freshman season ends with a 21-15 mark.
