MONTOURSVILLE — Karson Dominick scored 23 points and Sammy Lawrence hit a pair of free throws with 2.4 seconds left in the game to lift the Tigers to a 66-62 win over 4-time defending District 4 champion Loyalsock Tuesday, sending NP-Mansfield to the Class AAA final.

Up three as they entered the fourth quarter, North Penn-Mansfield went on a 9-2 run to start the final frame and extended their lead to 10, but Loyalsock clawed away at the deficit and drew to within two at 62-60 with 21 seconds left.

Two Dominick free throws .. the junior’s seventh and eighth made free throws in the fourth quarter .. and a Lancer basket with nine seconds left kept the Tigers’ lead at two. Dominick and Lawrence got the clock down to 2.4 seconds before Lawerence was fouled and the senior point guard sank the two game-clinching free throws.

Dominick went 8-for-8 from the line in the fourth quarter and made 13-of-15 in the game on his way to a team-high 23 points. 

Cooper Shaw hit double digits with 11 points, including a trio of threes in the third quarter that helped NP-Mansfield to a 14-13 quarter and extending the Tigers’ halftime lead of 27-25 to 41-38.

Six Tigers scored in the game, as Lawrence and Alex Davis each finished with nine points and Andrew Green and Brody Burleigh each scored seven points. 

Up 12-11 after the first quarter, NP-Mansfield would fall behind for the last time in the game when Loyalsock opened the second quarter with a basket and a 13-12 advantage. The Tigers spread the scoring around as Davis and Shaw each scored and Green and Dominick hit threes in a 10-0 run, but the Lancers would close the frame strong to keep the Tigers’ lead at 27-25.

Dominick had six rebounds and four assists to go with his 23 points, while Lawrence dished out five assists. 

The Tigers, now 24-2, will meet NTL rival Troy for the District 4 championship this weekend at a time and place to be determined. The Trojans topped Warrior Run in the other AAA semifinal.
