MONTGOMERY — After taking a lead into the second quarter here Wednesday, North Penn-Liberty saw Lourdes Regional use the middle quarters to catch up and pull away from the Lady Mounties for a 48-35 District 4 Class A 3rd-place win, ending NP-Liberty’s season.

The Mounties started off the game with a pair of senior Liz Ritchie free throws, then took an 8-4 lead late in the quarter and into the second frame with a pair of three pointers from freshman Haley Litzelman and senior Jaclyn Nelson.

In the second, Lourdes scored 18 points while holding NPL to a pair of senior Sidney Landis buckets, another Nelson three and a Ritchie free throw to give the Red Raiders a 23-16 halftime lead.

The Mounties struggled early in the third quarter and found themselves down 35-16 with four minutes left. Three Litzelman threes in less than a minute of playing time drew NPL to within 10 at 35-25 and Lourdes ended the frame up 38-26.

The Mounties got Nelson’s third three of the game in the fourth quarter and Litzelman, Landis and junior Kaylee Graham added scores, but Lourdes would hold off the Mounties with a 10-9 quarter to seal the win and advance to the State playoffs as the District 4 3rd-place finisher.

Litzelman finished with 14 points for the Lady Mounties, with three threes, while Nelson had nine points with her three triples. Landis added six points, Ritchie had three, Graham scored two points and senior Arianna Thompson had one point.
