NTL WRESTLING: '22-'23 ALL-TIOGA COUNTY WRESTLING TEAM (2023-03-21)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportTIOGA COUNTY — While we weren’t treated to any post-season runs to States with multiple wrestlers like in the recent past, there were still some season-long performances and accomplishments that deserve recognizing .. with our ’22-’23 All-Tioga County Wrestling Teams.
Last season, Williamson seniors Kade Sottolano and Mikey Sipps made States, with Sipps getting a win at 215 pounds before being eliminated and Sottolano, now at Edinboro, placing 4th at 285. NP-Liberty then-junior Kohen Lehman also made the State Tournament last season, for the second time, and was the area’s best chance to reach Hershey this season until a series of injuries cut the senior 172-pounder’s season and career short.
The All-Tioga County Wrestling Team
WRESTLER OF THE YEAR: Brayden Pequignot, NP-Liberty, soph.
Pequignot followed up a 20-win freshman campaign with a 28-9 sophomore season, placing 4th at the DKI Tourney, 3rd at the Southern Tier Memorial Tournament and winning the 107-pound title at the Jim Thorpe Christmas Tournament. Pequignot won a Sectional championship at 107 pounds and finished his season at Districts, placing 7th. Among his 28 wins, Pequignot had 13 falls, three major decisions and two technical falls for the Mounties.
