NTL TRACK & FIELD: NP-MANSFIELD BOYS, GIRLS BOTH FALL IN SEASON OPENER (2023-03-28)

ATHENS — The North Penn-Mansfield Track & Field teams opened their season Tuesday at Athens, with the boys losing 94-50 to the Wildcats and the girls falling 116-29.

For the boys, Brody Burleigh won the shot put with a throw of 40-4, took second in the javelin with a 147-9 and third in the discus with a 97-1. 

Jett Harold won the javelin with a throw of 149-4, and Zack Wilcox won the triple jump with a 39-1. Luke Kreger finished in first place in the high jump, clearing 5-6.

Kreger was second in the 100 meter dash in 12.62, while Brady Stetter was third in 13.06. Stetter placed second in the long jump with a leap of 17-6.25 and Brayden Johnson was third with a 16-7.75.

Wilcox placed second in the 800 meter run in 2:10.88, while Cedric Miller was second in the 400 in 56.96 and Ashton DeMorat was second in the 300 hurdles in 1:02.93.

Carter Grinnell was second in the 3200 meter run in 12:03.21 while Jude Rohl was third in 13:18.27. Grinnell was third in the 1600 in 5:31.22, while Brayden Johnson finished third in the 200 meter dash in 25.77 and the 4x400 team of Johnson, Wilcox, Harold and Miller placed second in 3:49.51.

On the girls’ side, Darby Stetter and Tierney Patterson each earned a first-place finish, Stetter in the high jump (4-2) and Patterson in the discus (80-2). Stetter tied with teammate Nora Furry for second in the triple jump (25-6) and Patterson was second in the javelin (72-1).

Bryanna Johnson was second in the high jump (3-10), while Furry was second in the 100 hurdles (20.64) and third in the 300 hurdles (1:02.56).

Madalynne Johns finished third in the 3200 meter run (14:52.32) and in the 1600 (6:11.82), while Anna Kennedy was third in the 100 meter dash (14.15), Abaigael Garverick was third in the 400 (1:14.38) and Madalyn Farrer was third in the 3200 (14:52.32).

The Lady Tigers’ 4x400 team of Kennedy, Holleran, Lindsey Wilson and Garverick placed second in 5:10.27.

Both squads are scheduled to return to action next Tuesday when they join Sayre and Troy for a meet at Wyalusing.
