NTL TRACK & FIELD: WELLSBORO BOYS, GIRLS ROLL OVER SAYRE (2023-03-28)

WELLSBORO — The Wellsboro boys and girls Track & Field teams each swept numerous events in their season-opening meet with a shorthanded Sayre squad, with the boys winning 124-23 and the girls, 92-34.

The boys swept 11 of the 18 events, including the 100 meter dash where Dillon Boyce won in 12.11, followed by Jack Bryant in 12.18 and Jonathan Carl in 12.47 .. the 200 yard dash, again won by Boyce (24.77) and followed by Bryant (26.03) and Macaiah Fitch (12.47) .. and the 400, won by Carl (55.95) and followed by Karter Campbell (1:13.60) and Ethan Geneski (1:15.45).

Jude Cuneo picked up a pair of wins, finishing first in both the 800 (2:26.51) and the 3200 meter run (12:46.58), as did Micah Vickery, who won both the 100 meter (17.69) and the 300 meter hurdles (47.13). Vickery also placed second in the high jump (5-06), behind teammate Kyle Mosher (6-00). Alex Citrino was third (5-02).

Aiden Gehman placed first in both the long jump (19-07.75) and the triple jump (39-04.50), while Carl (33-03) was second in the triple jump and Aden Tom (32-01.75) was third and Citrino (16-06.50) placed third in the long jump.

Wyatt Gastrock won the discus (112-06), placed second in shot (31-08) and third in the javelin (116-06). Noah Morey won the javelin (141-07.50) and placed second in the discus (105-01).

Spencer Wetzel (9-00) won the pole vault, with Gabriel Carpenter placing second (J9-00). Rounding out the Hornet point-winners were Henry Whitney, who placed second in the 1600 in 6:16.40, Nehemiah Burrous, who was second in the 300 meter hurdles in 52.07, Dru Clark, who placed third in shot put with a 30-10 and Watson Feil, who was second in the javelin with a throw of 119-04.

The Lady Hornets swept half of the meet’s 18 events, including all three throwing events. 

Hannah Gilmour (79-02), Hannalee Cleveland (48-05) and Grace Harlan (47-06) went 1, 2, 3 in the discus, while Harlan (27-09.50) won the shot put, followed by Gilmour (26-10.5) and Cleveland (22-06) and Rowan Butters (68-02.50) won the javelin, followed by Cleveland (66-00) and Gilmour (63-07).

Annika Gehman won three events, taking first in the high jump (4-11), the long jump (13-11.50) and in the triple jump (33-08.50). Kristina Belz (4-04) was second in the high jump and Brooke Wheeler (4-00) was third, while Ella Posada was third in the long jump (12-05.25) and Alyssa Bisbing placed third in the triple jump (27-00).

Madeline Gage won a pair of events, taking first in both the 800 (3:02.66) and in the 1600 (6:15.30), and Madison Robbins won the 3200 meter run in 17:19.74.

Posada (19.74) took second in the 100 meter hurdles, while Liliana Cuneo (19.89) was third, and Sarah Seeling (56.06) placed second in the 300 hurdles while Posada (57.63) was third. 

Katherine DeCamp placed second in the 100 meter dash (14.27) and third in the 200 (30.60), while Emily Benjamin was second in the 1600 meter run (7:59.54), Megan Mosher placed second in pole vault (4-06) and Lilah Peredes was third in the 100 meter dash (14.54).

Both the boys and girls Track & Field teams are scheduled to return to action next Tuesday in a meet with Athens at Canton.
