HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: NP-LIBERTY COMPLETES UNDEFEATED REGULAR SEASON WITH NON-LEAGUE WIN AT ADDISON (2023-05-17)

ADDISON, NY — North Penn-Liberty overcame the chilly conditions .. and the uncustomary errors that came with the low-40’s temps .. to top Addison 12-3 for their 19th win of the season.

The Lady Mounties surrendered a run to the Lady Knights in each of the first, third and fifth innings, but none were earned. 

Mackenzi Tice started and got the win for NPL, going four innings and allowing two unearned runs on three hits with seven strikeouts. Haley Litzelman threw three innings and gave up one unearned run on two hits with two K’s.

The Mounties scored six first-inning runs and after surrendering a run to Addison, added runs in each of the second and third innings to take an 8-1 lead. NPL would go on to score two runs in the fourth, three in the sixth and their last run in the seventh.

NP-Liberty had 13 base hits in the game, led by McKenna Lightner’s three doubles. Addie Smith, Litzelman, Payton Chapel and Marissa Griess each had two hits and Saige Lehman and Tice each had one.

Lightner, Griess and Chapel each had two RBI and Lehman, Smith and Litzelman had one each. Lightner scored three runs, Smith and Chapel scored two each and Lehman, Tice, Litzelman, Alexia Kshir and Niki Kiscadden scored once each.

North Penn-Liberty finishes the regular season 19-0-1 overall, as Champions of the NTL-I with a 15-0 league mark and as the No. 1 seed in the upcoming District 4 Class AAA playoffs.
