HIGH SCHOOL TRACK & FIELD: WELLSBORO'S AIDEN GEHMAN MAKES STATES WITH RUNNER-UP FINISH IN LONG JUMP AT DISTRICTS (2023-05-18)

WILLIAMSPORT — Wellsboro senior Aiden Gehman led a small contingent of Hornet athletes at Day 1 of the District 4 Track & Field Championships on Thursday, as the senior jumper earned a trip to the State Meet with a runner-up finish in the long jump.

Gehman placed second with a jump of 20-11.50. Neither his or the winning jump of 21-01.50 met the State Qualifying mark of 21-06.00, so only the winner and Gehman will advance to the State Meet from District 4.

Sophomore Micah Fitch finished 12th in the long jump with a day’s best of 18-10.75, while sophomore Micah Vickery was 10th in the 110 hurdles in 16.75 and junior Watson Feil was 18th in the javelin with a throw of 134-02.

Annie Gehman was the Lady Hornets’ lone competitor on the first day and the sophomore finished 13th in the long jump with a leap of 15-00.00.

Wellsboro will be represented on Saturday by: Aiden Gehman (TJ, 4x100), Micah Vickery (300H, HJ), Jonathan Carl (400), Kyle Mosher (HJ), Spencer Wetzel (PV), Gabriel Carpenter (PV), Jack Bryant, Alex Citrino and Dillon Boyce (4x100), Annie Gehman (HJ, TJ), Kristina Belz (HJ), Grace Harlan (SHOT) and Sarah Seeling (100H).
