NTWSR PRESENTS THE LAUREL HEALTH 'ATHLETES OF THE WEEK' (2023-05-21)

Northern Tier West Sports Report
TIOGA COUNTY — NTWSR is proud to recognize the following student athletes as our ‘Laurel Health Athletes of the Week’ in baseball, softball and boys and girls’ track & field.

BASEBALL
Conner Adams, Wellsboro
The senior shortstop stayed consistent through the Hornets’ final week, collecting a hit in each of Wellsboro’s three losses and adding an RBI and a run scored.

SOFTBALL
Payton Chapel, North Penn-Liberty
Chapel had three base hits, two RBI and three runs scored in a win over Sayre, had a hit in NPL’s win over Athens and had two hits, two RBI and scored twice in the Lady Mounties’ regular-season finale win over Addison.

GIRLS TRACK & FIELD
Annie Gehman, Wellsboro
The sophomore won a District 4 Championship in the triple jump with a hop-skip-and-jump of 35-01, qualifying her for the PIAA Championships this weekend.

BOYS TRACK & FIELD
Williamson boys’ 4x800 Meter Relay Team (Nathaniel Welch, Duncan Kerr, Kristian Mizdail and Owen Cummings)
The Warriors won a District 4 Championship in the 4x800 meter relay and, along with qualifying for the State meet in the relay, each member of the squad also earned a berth at States in other events .. Mizdail in the 3200 and the 1600, Welch in the 3200 and the 800, Cummings in the 800 and Kerr in the 300 meter hurdles.
