WILLIAMSPORT — The top-seeded North Penn-Liberty Lady Mounties are set to open their post-season run when they host No. 4 seed Mifflinburg in the semifinals of the District 4 Class AAA playoffs at Elm Park on Friday.

The Mounties had a first round bye as the No. 1 seed, while Mifflinburg topped No. 5 seed Midd-West 3-2 to advance. Before their quarterfinal win, Mifflinburg finished the regular season with a record of 10-9, including a 3-6 record in their last nine games.

NPL ran off 10 straight wins to start the season, played to a 6-6 tie with New York State power Corning and won their final nine games to finish 19-0-1 overall and as NTL-I Champs at 15-0 in the league.

The Lady Mounties didn’t play Mifflinburg this season, but the two do have a common opponent in Muncy. NP-Liberty gave Muncy, 19-1, their lone loss of the season, winning 4-0, while Mifflinburg lost 3-0 to the Class AA second-seeded Lady Indians.

In the bottom of the AAA bracket, No. 7 seed Towanda upset No. 2 seed Loyalsock and No. 6 Warrior Run beat No. 3 seed Central Columbia.
