WELLSBORO DOMINATES ALL-TIOGA COUNTY BOYS TENNIS TEAM (2023-06-18)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportTIOGA COUNTY — Wellsboro swept through their league schedule and captured their 5th straight NTL boys tennis championship this season, and a trio of Hornets highlight our All-Tioga County award honorees.
In his first season of competitive play, Peyton McClure made an immediate impact, going 15-2 at No. 1 singles for the league champs. The senior reached the District singles quarterfinals before falling and joined teammate Jacob Abadi to win two doubles matches at the District Championships. McClure is the All-Tioga County Boys’ Tennis Player of the Year.
The All-Tioga County Doubles Team is Wellsboro duo Aiden Gehman, a senior, and freshman Luke Rothermel. The pair went 11-1 for the Hornets at No. 1 Doubles. Gehman also went 1-1 in singles play and Rothermel went 1-0.

FIRST TEAM
Peyton McClure, Wellsboro, senior .. see above
Jacob Abadi, Wellsboro, junior .. Abadi went 12-7 at No. 2 singles and joined McClure for their two District doubles wins.
Daniel Harman, NP-Liberty, junior .. Harman went 4-9 for the Mounties while playing at No. 1 singles, helping NPL to their first match win in several seasons and a 2-11 overall record.
