WELLSBORO'S MCCLURE HIGHLIGHTS ALL-TIOGA COUNTY 'FAB 5' SPRING NEWCOMERS (2023-06-20)

TIOGA COUNTY — First-year players contributed to their team’s successes throughout the West this season, none more so than than our All-Tioga County ‘Fab 5’ Newcomers of the Spring, led by Wellsboro tennis player Peyton McClure.

All-Tioga County Newcomer of the Spring
Peyton McClure, Wellsboro tennis, sr. .. In his first season of competitive play, McClure made an immediate impact, going 15-2 at No. 1 singles for the league champs. The senior reached the District singles quarterfinals before falling and joined teammate Jacob Abadi to win two doubles matches at the District Championships.

Remaining ‘Fab 5’ Newcomers of the Spring
Marek Mascho, Wellsboro baseball, fr. .. hit .364 and had a .442 on-base-percentage with 24 base hits, 14 RBI and 19 runs scored. He threw 27 innings for Wellsboro, compiling a 1-4 record with 10 walks and 13 strikeouts.

Levi Stahli, CV baseball, fr. .. hit .310 with a .442 OBP, 13 base hits and 11 runs scored .. made 8 pitching appearances and threw 18 innings with a 3.50 ERA and 12 strikeouts.

Riley Oakes, NP-Mansfield baseball, so. .. produced in his first season with a full-time role, hit .275 with a .383 OBP, 11 base hits and 9 runs scored.

Jonathan Carl, Wellsboro Track & Field, fr. .. won the 400 at the NTL meet and placed 8th at Districts, while also taking 5th in the NTL in the 100 meter dash.
