NTWSR 'SUPER 7' MALE ATHLETES OF THE SEASON (2023-06-22)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportTIOGA COUNTY — It’s tough to crack a top-seven list of athletic performances when there are four State Champions among the field, but we narrowed it down and present the All-Tioga County ‘Super 7’ Boys Athletes of the Spring.
Co-Athletes of the Spring
Nathaniel Welch, Kristian Mizdail, Duncan Kerr and Owen Cummings, Williamson Track & Field
In addition to each earning a State title in the 4x800 relay ..
Kerr, a senior, earned a 4th-place finish in the 300 hurdles at Districts and was 11th at the State meet.
Welch was 2nd in the 3200 at the NTL meet and 6th at Districts and finished 2nd at the NTL meet, 3rd at Districts and 20th at States in the 800.
Cummings, a junior, was 2nd in the 800 at Districts and 14th at States and placed 2nd in the 1600 at NTL’s.
Mizdail won the NTL 1600 meter run, was 4th at Districts and 9th at States and was 1st, 3rd and 9th in the 3200 meter run.

Cameron Brought, Wellsboro Baseball, sr. .. league-leading .485 batting average, .578 OBP, 33 base hits and 31 RBI, added seven doubles, three triples and three home runs, drew 14 walks and scored 22 runs for the Hornets. On the mound, Brought gave Coach Steve Adams a reliable closer and went 2-1 with two saves while throwing 28 innings for the Hornets with a 4.69 ERA and 43 strikeouts.
Aiden Gehman, Wellsboro Track & Field/Tennis, sr. .. runner-up in the long jump at Districts and finished 17th at States and also placed 6th at Districts in the triple jump; is the All-Tioga County Outstanding Field Athlete; went 11-1 for the NTL-Champion Hornets Tennis team at No. 1 Doubles and went 1-1 in singles play.
Peyton McClure, Wellsboro Tennis, sr. .. In his first season of competitive play, McClure made an immediate impact, going 15-2 at No. 1 singles for the league champs. The senior reached the District singles quarterfinals before falling and joined teammate Jacob Abadi to win two doubles matches at the District Championships.
