LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL: CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON COMES TO AN END FOR WELLSBORO MINORS (2023-07-19) Northern Tier West Sports Report ATHENS — PA District 15 10U champs Wellsboro had their season come to an end here Wednesday, falling 15-5 to District 13 winner Selinsgrove in Sectional play.
Wellsboro took early leads of 4-0 and 5-1 but Selinsgrove scored 14 unanswered runs to secure the win and advance to the Sectional final against Keystone.
The Hornets went undefeated on their way to the District 15 title, beating Tioga-Lawrenceville 10-2 and Southern Tioga 21-6 in pool play, then going 4-0 in District play with wins over Montrose (10-8), Tioga-Lawrenceville (18-10), Athens (11-10) and RTL (7-6).
Wellsboro opened Sectional play with a 2-1 loss to Selinsgrove then eliminated District 24 champ Blue Mountain with a 6-5 win to earn the consolation rematch with Selinsgrove.
