TIOGA COUNTY YMCA JR. HIGH SUMMER BASKETBALL LEAGUE COMPLETES THIRD WEEK (2023-07-30)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportMANSFIELD — The Tioga County YMCA Junior High Boys Basketball league, with several West teams competing, completed their third week of games here Sunday at Mansfield University.
Troy and New Covenant each went 2-0 on the night while Cowanesque Valley, North Penn-Liberty and Galeton each went 1-1 and Wellsboro and Williamson were both 0-2.

Troy stands atop the standings at 6-0 on the summer, while New Covenant and Wellsboro are each 4-2, Galeton, Cowanesque Valley and North Penn-Liberty are all 2-4 and Williamson is 1-5.
The league’s fourth and final week will be played next Sunday with games starting at 3:00 p.m.
The Tioga County YMCA’s Ruth Hermansen has run the increasingly-popular league .. as well as a girls’ league .. for three years. Due to the growth of the league, MU’s Decker Gym is now rented for the games.
Hermansen, a former women’s head coach at MU, also offers "Individual and Small Group Basketball" programming at the YMCA in Mansfield. In the first 6 months there have been over 40 participants, grades 3-11, boys and girls, with a 97% return rate of participants.
