Northern Tier West Sports ReportTIOGA COUNTY — With some of our high school seasons/teams in full swing and others finishing up preseason practices and scrimmages, NTWSR presents our first Laurel Health Athletes of the Week for football, volleyball, girls tennis, boys soccer and golf.
GOLF
Jordan Vargeson, Cowanesque Valley - Finished second at the NTL match in Wellsboro with 39s on the front and back nines for a seven-over 78 on the day, with two birdies and seven pars.
GIRLS TENNIS
Kylee Stone, Cowanesque Valley - defeated Wellsboro’s Hannah Nuss at No. 1 Singles, 6-4, 6-3, in CV’s 5-0 sweep of the Hornets.
BOYS SOCCER
Brady Stetter, North Penn-Liberty - had two goals and an assist in the Mounties’ 4-1 season-opening win over Galeton and had NPL’s lone goal in regulation and overtime in a 6-5 penalty kick loss to Williamson.
VOLLEYBALL
TaylorRae Jones, Williamson - had 10 kills and six digs for the Warriors in their season-opening sweep of Northern Potter.
FOOTBALL
Fletcher Good, Cowanesque Valley - Good led the Indians to a 32-12 win in their first game, catching three TD passes for 106 yards and rushing for 78 yards.
