NTL GIRLS SOCCER: WELLSBORO EARNS 2-1 WIN OVER NORTH PENN-MANSFIELD (2023-09-26) Northern Tier West Sports Report MANSFIELD — The Hornets scored two first-half goals and held on to edge the host Tigers 2-1 in NTL girls soccer play here Tuesday.
Sarah Seeling scored on an assist from Cassi Mitchell 10 minutes into the match and Mitchell made it 2-0 with 12 minutes left until the break.
NPM’s Brooke Wilcox found the net for a score on the Tigers’ lone shot-on-goal of the game with just under six minutes remaining .. off an assist from Olivia Likens .. but Wellsboro would hold on to secure their third win of the season .. and their second over NP-Mansfield.
Wellsboro held an 18-1 advantage in shots-on-goal and had nine corner kicks to NP-Mansfield’s two. Tiger keeper Tierney Patterson stopped 16 Hornet shots in goal.
The Hornets (3-7, 2-5 NTL) and Tigers (0-10, 0-7 NTL) are both scheduled to return to action Thursday .. Wellsboro at home against Towanda and North Penn-Mansfield on the road at Williamson.
