NTL BASEBALL: TIGERS DOWNED BY HUGHESVILLE IN DISTRICT PLAYOFFS (2021-05-22)

HUGHESVILLE — North Penn-Mansfield fell behind early Saturday to Hughesville, battled back to draw to within a run in the fourth inning, but ultimately fell to the Spartans 13-5 in their District IV AAA first-round match-up.

The Tigers collected six hits in the game, as Bryan Bogacyzk had a pair and Cameron Fabian had a double. Derek Litzelman, Noah Spencer and Blaise Dietrick each added a hit.

Fabian and Rhyen Wilson had an RBI each, while Dietrick scored two runs and Fabian, Bogacyzk and Wilson each scored once.

Hughesville scored a run in the first inning and added two more in the second and another two in the third.

NPM got two runs back in the third, as Wilson reached base on a dropped third strike and later scored on a Spartan error, and Dietrick walked and scored later on a passed ball.

The Tigers loaded the bases in the fourth inning, as Fabian walked, Bogaczyk singled and Logan Choplosky was hit by a pitch. A Wilson ground out scored Fabian and Spencer scored Bogacyzk when he reached on an error.

Hughesville extended their lead and put the game away with five runs in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth.

Spencer started on the mound for NP-Mansfield and went four innings, allowing nine runs (four earned) on seven hits, three walks and four strikeouts.

Jake Evans threw the final two innings, giving up five earned runs on six hits, two walks and a strikeout.

The Tigers finish their season with a record of 12-8.
