NTL BOYS SOCCER: MOUNTIES END SKID WITH LEAGUE WIN OVER TOWANDA (2023-09-30)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportTOWANDA — North Penn-Liberty snapped a four-game skid here Saturday, topping the host Black Knights 5-2 in NTL boys soccer action.
Towanda scored first, just 10 minutes into the match, but Brady Stetter scored a pair of first-half goals and Brody Grinnell added a score and the Mounties took a 3-1 lead into the break.
Zack Wilcox scored eight minutes into the second half off an assist from Grinnell and Tate Strange scored eight minutes later off an assist by Wilcox for the 5-1 lead. Towanda tacked on a late score to complete the scoring.
The Mounties held a 16-8 advantage in shots-on-goal and a 7-4 edge in corner kicks. Keeper Carter Grinnell recorded six saves in goal.
North Penn-Liberty is now 8-6 overall on the season and 5-4 in the NTL. They’re scheduled to host Troy on Monday.
