DISTRICT IV TRACK & FIELD: TRIO OF WARRIORS EARN SILVER AT DISTRICT MEET, QUALIFY FOR STATES (2021-05-22)

WILLIAMSPORT — Charlize Slusser, Seth Neal and Owen Cummings will represent the Williamson Warriors at next week’s PIAA Championships after the trio each placed second in their event, earning an automatic bid to Shippensburg.

Slusser (5-04) finished second in the high jump behind Towanda’s Porschia Bennet (5-06).

Cummings (4:34.25) was runner-up to South Williamsport’s Port Habalar (4:30.31) in the 1600 meter run.

Neal (2:02.84) was second in the 800 meter run, behind Quaid Molino (1:59.98) of South Williamsport.

Duncan Kerr (42.22) finished fourth in the 300 meter hurdles, and teammate Jacob Schmitt (45.76) was sixteenth.

Williamson’s Kristian Mizdail (4:53.05) and Nathaniel Welch (4:55.92) finished in tenth and thirteenth place in the 1600 meter run, and both ran the 3200 as well, with Welch (10:27.34) placing ninth and Mizdail (10:29.79) placing tenth.

The Warrior boys 4x400 team, (3:44.52) made up of Elliott Good, Kerr, Schmitt and Elias Kaufman, finished in tenth place, and Kaufman (54.03) was eleventh in the 400 meter dash. Mason Kelsey (24.92) placed twentieth In the 200 meter dash.

For the girls, Adelaide Schmitt (97-10) placed ninth in the javelin, Scout Abel (27.90) finished fourteenth in the 200 meter dash and Chelsea Hungerford (51.43) was fifteenth in the 300 meter hurdles. 

Ryann Slusser (7-06) finished sixteenth in the pole vault, and Kyra Daly (1:04.29) was sixteenth in the 400 meter dash.

The AA PIAA Track & Field Championships will be held on Friday, May 28 in Seth Grove Stadium at Shippensburg University. 

The girls’ high jump competition is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m., while the boys 1600 is scheduled for a 12:25 p.m. start and the boys 800 will begin at 2:20 p.m.
