NTL BOYS TENNIS: WELLSBORO'S POIRIER AND SINGER COMPETE AT PIAA TOURNAMENT (2021-05-28) Northern Tier WEST Sports Report HERSHEY — Wellsboro’s district champion doubles team of Will Poirier and Zach Singer competed at the PIAA Class AA championships Friday at the Hershey Racquet Club, where the duo was eliminated in their opening-round match.
The team from Conrad Weiser, third-place finishers in District III, defeated Poirier and Singer 6-0, 6-1.
Singer went 14-2 during the regular season in the #2 singles spot, while Poirier was 13-3 in #1 singles, and the pair went 6-0 as a doubles team.
The duo, both seniors, upset the top-seeded Montoursville doubles team to win a District IV championship, qualifying them for today’s state tournament.
