HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL: WELLSBORO BEATS LOYALSOCK IN FIRST ROUND OF DISTRICTS (2023-10-28)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportATHENS — Wellsboro avenged a loss to Loyalsock last week and topped the Lady Lancers 3-0 in the first round of the District IV Class 2A volleyball playoffs here Saturday.
Loyalsock had previously defeated the Lady Hornets 3-0 nine days prior to Saturday's match.
Wellsboro won the sets 25-23, 25-22 and 25-18.
Senior Meredith Brownlee led Wellsboro with seven kills, eight points and two aces while senior Natalie Cleveland had 13 digs, sophomore Taylor Main recorded 10 assists and nine points, junior Arianah Lawton had seven points, two aces and seven assists and freshman Blake Eckart had five kills. Eckart and Paige Logsdon also made two blocks each.
Wellsboro (12-9) takes on rival North Penn-Liberty in Athens on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. in the Class 2A semi-finals. North Penn-Liberty won both regular season games against Wellsboro, 3-0.
