ATHENS — North Penn-Liberty will play in the District IV final for the seventh straight season at Athens High School on Thursday, meeting top-seeded Northeast Bradford for a chance to win back-to-back Class 2A titles.

NEB ran through the NTL and a less-than-strong non-league schedule and was 11-0 when the Panthers and Mounties met on October 5th. NP-Liberty cruised to a pair of 25-16 wins and took the third set 25-22. 

The Panthers haven’t lost since and are now 20-1 with their semifinal win over Troy. The Mounties lost two of their next three games after the NEB win .. falling to Corning and Williamsport .. before finishing the regular season with three wins and beating Wellsboro in the semis Tuesday.

In their win over NEB on October 5th, the Mounties got 14 kills from both Saige Lehman and Ella Swingle and 34 total as a team while NEB’s Abby O’Connor had 13 kills and Toni Herb added four as the Panthers had just 18 total kills in the match. 

Haley Litzelman and Megan Spohn each had a pair of aces and Litzelman added three kills and two blocks and Spohn had 21 assists. 

Thursday’s 2A final will follow the Class A final at 5 p.m. and has a 7:00 p.m. start time. Tickets must be purchased online, HERE.
