Northern Tier West Sports Report
WELLSBORO — The Wellsboro girls soccer team continued to rebuild in 2023, winning four games while getting valuable experience for a large group of underclass players.

A pair of one-goal wins over North Penn-Mansfield, wins over non-league opponents Port Allegany and Jersey Shore and a late-season, 0-0 draw with Northeast Bradford accounted for the Lady Hornets’ 4-13-1 overall record and 2-9-1 NTL mark.

Wellsboro, led by Head Coach Jason Gehman, scored 12 goals on the season .. seven by senior Sarah Seeling, three by junior Cassidy Mitchell and one each by senior Maddy Mascho and junior Annie Gehman. Mitchell added five assists while Seeling and Gehman each had one.

Gehman started the season in goal for the Hornets and played 251 minutes with 51 saves and a 5.737 goals-against-average. Freshman Jadyn Dunlap would take over as Gehman moved to forward and played 1209 minutes in goal with 154 saves and a 2.978 GAA.

The Hornets will lose eight seniors to graduation .. Seeling, Mascho, Madison Robbins, Abby Owlett, Emily Richardson, Kallie Baltzley, Brenna Cavanaugh and Carolyn Warner .. and should return a large group of underclassmen who contributed this season, including current juniors Mitchell, Gehman, Carys Barlett and Madalyn Losinger.
Sophomores on the roster include Lily Wagner and Lilah Paredes and freshmen included Dunlap, Reese Regina, Ella Boyce, Sienna Zengerle, Kaelyn Peterson and Megan Newruck.
