JR. HIGH BOYS BASKETBALL: WELLSBORO TOPS VISITING TIGERS FOR PAIR OF WINS (2023-11-16)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportWELLSBORO — The Wellsboro junior high boys basketball team picked up a pair of wins over the visiting North Penn-Mansfield Tigers here Thursday night.
The Hornets took a 16-0 lead after one quarter and an 18-2 advantage into the break. An 18-4 third quarter gave Wellsboro a 36-6 lead and a NPM 8-2 fourth quarter provided the 38-14 final in favor of the Hornets.
Ransom Schultz led Wellsboro with 12 points, while RJ Doughtie and Griffin Mortal each had eight points, Luke Szentesy had six points and Tanner Allen and James Doughtie each had two points.
Scott Campbell had seven points to lead North Penn-Mansfield, while Jeremiah Lawrence had four points and Rider Root had three.
The Hornets also won the “B” game, 27-14. Keegan VanZile had 10 points, Maddon Mascho and Tucker Bencus each had six, Jordan Hines had three points and Blake Knowlton had two.
Asher Cummings had seven points to lead the Tigers and Rider Root had six points and Luke Vanloon had a point.
