HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: NP-MANSFIELD'S DICKINSON LEADS WEST TEAM IN PSFCA ALL-STAR GAME (2021-05-30)

Northern Tier WEST Sports Report
HARRISBURG — North Penn-Mansfield head football coach Tom Dickinson was selected to lead the West team of seniors in Sunday’s Pennsylvania State Football Coaches Association Class A-AAA All-Star game, won by the East squad by a score of 17-10.

This was the first year that the PSFCA split the game up by classifications. Prior to this, there was one game, made up of seniors from across the state, regardless of school size. Dickinson was tabbed to coach last year’s team, before Covid caused its cancellation.

“I was chosen to be the West head coach for last years game that didn't happen”, Dickinson explained. “And when it got switched to a big and small school format, I got put in as the small school West head coach”.

With only a few practices to prepare, Dickinson spent the limited time getting his squad ready. Both teams had to play a 4-2 man free defense, meaning the coaching staffs could focus on the other aspects of the game.

“We had two Sunday practices with two practices each day”, Dickinson says. “One at Woodland Hills and the second at Richland. With those practices you mostly focus on special teams and implementing the offense you will be running.”

Dickinson’s West team scored first Sunday, as QB Ameer Dudley caught a throwback pass from Jack Krug and took it 75 yards for the score. William Haslett was good on the extra point.

The East answered in the second quarter, as Odell Greene punched it in from two yards out, and Macrae Plummer’s extra point tied the game at seven. Plummer connected on a 33-yard field goal right before the half to extend the East lead to 10-7.

The East tacked on a score in the third quarter as Chad Parton caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Johnny Gilchrist.

Haslett completed the scoring with a fourth-quarter field goal from 42 yards out.

The West offense threw for 202 yards on 10 completions. The East connected on 15 passes for 215 yards.

Dickinson and his staff had simple goals for the game .. “for our players to enjoy themselves and have fun. And to try and put up as many points as possible.”

Congrats to Coach Dickinson on his selection to lead the West team, and on representing the NTL and North Penn-Mansfield well.
