NTL GIRLS BASKETBALL: NORTH PENN-MANSFIELD EDGES ATHENS IN LOW-SCORING BATTLE (2023-12-07)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportATHENS — North Penn-Mansfield earned a win in just their second try of the season, beating the host Athens Lady Wildcats 25-21 in NTL crossover play here Thursday.
The Tigers lost the first quarter 6-2 .. and the third quarter 4-3 .. in the very low-scoring contest. A 10-5 second quarter and 10-6 fourth would make the difference for NPM.
Kameron Lightner scored four points in the fourth and led Mansfield with 11 points, while Addison Hill had all four of her game points in the final frame to help the Tigers hold off the Wildcats.
Ella Swingle and Mckenna Lightner each added three points and freshmen Elaina Shaw and Claire Dominick each had two points for NPM.
The Lady Tigers were 7-for-17 from the free throw line while Athens was 4-for-8.
NP-Mansfield (1-1) will play in CV’s Bush Memorial Tournament Friday and Saturday.
