NTL BOYS BASKETBALL: NP-MANSFIELD CRUISES TO NTL-I WIN OVER TOWANDA (2023-12-22)

Northern Tier West Sports Report
MANSFIELD — Karson Dominick matched his season-high of 27 points as the Tigers cruised to a 62-49 win over Towanda in NTL-I boys basketball play here Friday night.

Dominick scored six points in the opening quarter as Mansfield took a 12-7 lead, then hit for seven in the second quarter and Tate Strange and Cooper Shaw added threes to give the Tigers a 29-18 advantage at the break.

Andy Hermansen hit three 3-pointers and Dominick scored 12 points in the third quarter to push the Tigers’ lead to 22 points at 54-32. With Mansfield subbing liberally in the final frame, Towanda’s starters were able to put 17 points on the board to account for the 62-49 final score.

Dominick was everywhere for the Tigers and added 10 rebounds and seven assists, while Shaw handed out six assists and five steals as Mansfield’s primary ball handlers begin to adjust to playing without starting point guard Alex Davis, who is sidelined with an injury from Tuesday’s game with Troy.

Hermansen finished with 11 points, while Shaw had nine, Strange had seven points, Brady Stetter had four and Jason Harer rounded out the scoring with two points.

The Tigers were 7-of-8 from the free throw line, while the Black Knights were 7-for-15.

With the win, NPM improves to 5-2 on the season with a 1-1 mark in the NTL-I division. They’ll once again compete at the Josh Palmer Fund Tournament in Elmira, starting on Wednesday, December 27th at 11:45 a.m. against Edison, NY.
