NTL GIRLS BASKETBALL: NORTH PENN-MANSFIELD WINS LOW-SCORING GAME AT CV, 31-18 (2024-01-31)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportWESTFIELD, Pa — North Penn-Mansfield and Cowanesque Valley combined for just 13 first half points here Wednesday before the Tigers used a 10-point second half advantage to earn a 31-18 win over the Lady Indians.
Mansfield led 6-2 after a quarter of play and a 3-2 CV second quarter left the Indians down 8-5 at the break. The Tigers opened their lead up to 17-7 with a 9-2 third quarter and secured the win with a 14-11 edge in the final frame.
Kameron Lightner led the Lady Tigers with 11 points and added 6 rebounds and 4 steals while Ella Swingle and Raegan Watkins-Bourret each had 6 points and Swingle added 4 assists and 9 steals and Watkins-Bourret had 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. McKenna Lightner and Claire Dominick each had four points and Lightner added 5 rebounds.
Ella Churchill led CV with 8 points while Ashley Woodring added six and Maddy Millard and Logan Hamilton each had two points.
North Penn-Mansfield improves to 12-6 overall on the season with the win, including a 9-4 mark in the league and a 6-1 record in the small school division. They’re scheduled to return to action Friday at home with NTL-II leader Northeast Bradford, who beat NPM 58-28 in their previous match-up.
Cowanesque Valley falls to 4-13 on the year with the loss. They’re scheduled to host Canton on Friday.
