NTL GIRLS BASKETBALL: SMALL SCHOOL LEADER NEB NEEDS OVERTIME TO EDGE LADY TIGERS (2024-02-02)

MANSFIELD — The Lady Tigers pushed small school leader Northeast Bradford into overtime here Friday night but the Lady Panthers made five free throws and a bucket in the extra frame and escaped with a 45-42 win.

Kameron Lightner led Mansfield with 17 points and had a double-double with 10 rebounds and added a blocked shot and three steals while McKenna Lightner had nine points and three rebounds. 

NP-Mansfield jumped out to an early 16-9 lead but the Lady Panthers outscored NPM 14-6 in the second frame for a one-point, 23-22 lead at halftime. The Tigers tied the game at 34-each with a 12-11 third quarter and each team had a basket and two free throws in the fourth to send the game to overtime.

There, NEB hit 5-of-7 free throw attempts and had a bucket while Mansfield connected on 4-of-8 from the line and would come up just short in their upset bid. 

Ella Swingle and Raegan Watkins-Bourret each had six points for NPM and Swingle added nine assists and three steals while Watkins-Bourret had six rebounds and a pair of assists, and Elaina Shaw and Claire Dominick each had two points.

Mansfield, now 12-7 overall on the season and 6-2 in the NTL-II, has two regular season games remaining, starting on Wednesday at North Penn-Liberty. The Lady Tigers edged the Lady Mounties 22-21 less than two weeks ago at home.
