WELLSBORO — The undefeated Troy Trojans outscored Wellsboro 42-20 over the middle quarters here Tuesday night and ran away from the host Hornets for a 66-36, large school win.

The Hornets fell behind 13-10 after the first quarter as Mitchel Lechler kept Wellsboro close with six early points. The sophomore finished with six points, as did Luke Rothermel and Marek Mascho. 

Hayes Campbell led the Hornets with nine points. Caden Smith added five points and Ian Hoose and Jonathan Carl each had two points.

The Trojans outscored Wellsboro 17-8 in the second quarter and put the game into the mercy rule with a 25-12 third frame. 

Campbell had six rebounds and three assists while Smith had five assists and two steals in the losing effort. Mascho and Rothermel added four boards each.

Wellsboro falls to 12-6 overall on the season with the loss and to 6-3 in the NTL-I. They’re scheduled to visit 3-16 Wyalusing on Thursday.
