NTL GIRLS BASKETBALL: WILLIAMSON TOPS ATHENS FOR 18TH WIN (2024-02-09)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportATHENS — The Williamson girls basketball team ran their season record to 18-3 here Friday night, beating the host Lady Wildcats for the second time this season, 35-26.
Olivia Meisner led the Lady Warriors with 15 points while Kenna Thomas joined her in double-digits with 10. Avery Vinsek added six points and Madisen and Taylor Rae Jones each chipped in with two points.
The teams played to a 6-all tie in the first quarter before Meisner (5) and Thomas (4) lifted the Warriors to an 11-5 second and a 17-11 halftime lead.
Athens cut Williamson’s lead to three points with a 10-7 third quarter before Thomas (6) and Meisner (5) led the Lady Warriors to an 11-5 final frame to seal the season sweep of the Wildcats.
Williamson is now 18-3 overall on the season, 15-2 in the NTL and 8-2 in the large school division.
