HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL: LADY MOUNTIES DROP FINAL REGULAR SEASON GAME TO MUNCY (2024-02-12)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportLIBERTY — The Lady Mounties played District 4 No. 2 seed Muncy even in the second half of their non-league girls basketball match-up here Monday, allowing the Lady Indians’ 14-point halftime lead to hold up for a 47-33 win.
Haley Litzelman led the Mounties with a double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds and added five blocked shots and five steals in the loss, Liberty’s final regular season game.
Muncy took a 14-9 lead after one quarter and outscored the Mounties 11-2 in the second frame for a 25-11 halftime advantage.
A 17-8 Muncy third quarter extended their lead to 42-19 before Liberty’s 14-5 fourth closed the gap back to 14 to provide the final.
Tierney Patterson added seven points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Lady Mounties while Olivia Smith had four points and Kaylee Graham and Ciara Kieser each had two points.
North Penn-Liberty .. 8-14 overall, 5-11 NTL, 4-6 NTL-II .. is currently in eighth in the standings for the upcoming District 4 Class A playoffs.
