Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportTIOGA COUNTY — The NTL Showdown for both boys and girls basketball are the lone contests on the schedule in the West for today .. Thursday, February 15th.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
NTL Showdown First Round
Williamson (18-3 overall, 15-2 NTL, 8-2 large school) .. the large school runner-up .. will take on small school champ Northeast Bradford (16-5, 14-2, 10-0) in Rome at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Warriors beat the Panthers 51-43 back on December 7th in the two’s previous match-up.
North Penn-Mansfield (13-9 overall, 10-7 NTL, 7-3 small school) .. the NTL-II runner-up .. will visit large school winner Troy ((19-3, 16-0, 10-0) for a 5:30 tip. The Trojans took the first meeting 54-21 over the Lady Tigers.
BOYS BASKETBALL
NTL Showdown First Round
North Penn-Mansfield (16-6 overall, 12-4 NTL, 6-4 NTL-I) .. the NTL-I runner-up .. plays NTL-II champ Northeast Bradford (16-6, 12-4, 9-1) in Rome following the first-round girls’ game. The Tigers beat NEB 62-41 at the beginning of February.
Cowanesque Valley (12-10 overall, 9-6 NTL, 7-3 NTL-II) finished No. 2 in the small school division behind NEB and are slated to take on large school champ Troy (22-0, 15-0, 10-0) following the girls’ game at the Commons Building. Troy beat CV 72-26 in their only meeting of the season.
