DISTRICT 4 BOYS BASKETBALL: COWANESQUE VALLEY TO HOST GALETON IN CLASS A 1ST ROUND (2024-02-19)

WESTFIELD — Cowanesque Valley finished the regular season 12-10 and as the No. 3 seed in the District 4 Class A playoffs will host No. 6 seed Galeton on Tuesday.

Galeton went 10-12 in the regular season and won their final two games. They’re led in scoring by senior Braiden Cimino, who scores 12.4 points per game and has hit 53 three-pointers on the year. Senior Corey Anderson adds 10.6 points per game and classmate John Martin leads the Tigers in rebounding with 6.7 boards per game and also blocks 1.2 shots per game.

The two have not played each other this season but have multiple common opponents. 

Both teams beat Williamson twice on the season, while CV beat both Canton and North Penn-Liberty twice each and Galeton lost to both the Warriors and the Mounties. 

Galeton went 1-1 against Northern Potter while CV lost to the Panthers in their only meeting.

The Indians are led in scoring by senior Jordan Vargeson, who scores 14.7 points per game, has hit 14 threes and has a season high of 36 points. Junior Fletcher Good (9.4) and senior Larsen Swimley (9.2) have both scored in double figures multiple times.

The game is scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m. at Cowanesque Valley High School Tuesday night. With a win the Indians would advance to the semifinals and face the winner between North Penn-Liberty and Sullivan County.
