DISTRICT 4 GIRLS BASKETBALL: NORTH PENN-MANSFIELD TO HOST NORTHUMBERLAND IN 2A PLAYOFFS (2024-02-19)

MANSFIELD — The No. 3 seeded Lady Tigers are set to host the No. 6 seed Northumberland Christian on Tuesday in the first round of the District 4 Class 2A girls basketball playoffs. 

NCS went 10-10 in the regular season and averaged 34 points per game while allowing just over 36. 

North Penn-Mansfield went 13-9 in the regular season then fell in the first round of the NTL Showdown to Troy to finish 13-10. They average just over 30 points per game and allow under 32. 

Sophomore Kameron Lightner leads the Tigers with 8.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game and also gets 2.6 steals per contest. Senior Mckenna Lightner adds 5.2 points and 7.3 boards per game and senior Ella Swingle scores 4.3 points and has 2.2 steals per game. 

The Tigers will also look for contributions from senior Addison Hill (2.4 ppg, 2.6 rpg), junior Raegan Watkins-Bourret (3 ppg, 3 rpg) as well as from freshmen Elaina Shaw (3.5 ppg, 1.6 spg) and Claire Dominick (2.7 ppg, 1.3 spg).

With a win Mansfield would advance to the semis and face the winner between No. 2 seed Muncy and No. 7 Canton. The Lady Tigers are 1-1 against Canton this season and have not played Muncy.

Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday at North Penn-Mansfield High School.
