After taking a 26-point lead at the end of the first frame, Galeton opened the second with a 3-pointer to make it 33-4 a half minute in, but the Mounties would go on a 20-3 run over the next six minutes and close the gap to 12 at 36-24. 

Blake Oakley scored six straight on three baskets to start the run and scored eight in the quarter while Luke Kreger added seven points in the frame and Louis Mercantino scored six as the Mounties went into the locker rooms down 11 .. 40-29.

Kreger led all scorers with 19 points while Oakley added 13, Mercantino had 12, Adynn Wheeland had five points and Brody Grinnell, Evan McTish and Carter Grinnell had two points each.

A back-and-forth third quarter saw Kreger score six points and Mercantino hit his second three as Liberty nipped at the Tigers’ lead and trailed by single digits at the end of the third .. 51-42.

An Oakley free throw was answered by two Galeton buckets before Mercantino hit another trey to keep the Tigers in sight and the lead at nine with over six minutes left. 

An Oakley ‘and-1’ with 5:24 remaining cut the lead to six, but the Mounties would get no closer and Galeton would make five free throws down the stretch to secure the 68-55 playoff win.

The Mounties, now 12-11 on the season, will face top-seeded Northumberland Christian in the Class A consolation finals at a time and place to be determined. Galeton will play for a District title against Bucktail, who knocked Northumberland off 73-61.
