TRAVEL BASKETBALL: NORTHERN TIER HAWKS OPEN AAU PLAY (2024-03-18)

Northern Tier WEST Sports Report
The Northern Tier Hawks 17U girls’ AAU basketball team went 2-1 in their first tournament of the season this past weekend.

The team, which features Liberty’s Haley Litzelman, Kaylee Graham and Kendall Graham, Wellsboro’s Chloe Brandenburg and Mansfield’s Kameron Lightner, competed at the Coal Town Classic in Mount Carmel.

Also on the team are Canton’s Kendall Kitchen, Cailyn VanNoy, and Daveian Crowley, along with Wyalusing’s Chloe Bennett,

They lost 27-26 in overtime to Shimtown, but then rallied to beat Berwick 37-33 and the Indian All-stars 36-32.

“Litzelman and Lightner were both a force on the inside at both ends of the floor,” said coach Brock Kitchen. “Brandenburg and Bennett shot the lights out from three point range with Bennett having four in the final game of the night. The Graham sisters from Liberty did a great job on the both ends with rebounding and knocking down some shots. Kitchen, VanNoy and Crawley from Canton did all the little things, playing great defense running the offenses and showing typical Canton hustle.”

The team will be in action next Sunday at the Scranton for the Spring Tip-Off.
