NTL SOFTBALL: LADY MOUNTIES CRUISE TO OPENING DAY WIN OVER WELLSBORO (2024-03-26)

MANSFIELD, PA — Senior Mackenzi Tice and sophomore Haley Litzelman combined on a 4-inning perfect game here Tuesday, leading the North Penn-Liberty Lady Mounties to a 15-0, season-opening win over Wellsboro. 

Tice started and went two innings with three strikeouts and Litzelman threw the final two innings, striking out four, as neither hurler allowed a Wellsboro base runner.

North Penn-Liberty scored 8 runs in the first inning, 5 in the 2nd, and added their final two in the 4th.

Tice and Megan Spohn were both 2-for-2 at the plate for the Lady Mounties and Tice added four RBI and two runs scored while Spohn had one RBI and scored twice. 

Litzelman, Mckenna Lightener and Marissa Griess all had base hits while Spohn belted a triple and Tice and Griess both doubled. Litzelman added an RBI and a run scored while Lightner had an RBI and two runs scored and Griess had two RBI and scored once. 

Elaina Shaw, Niki Kiscadden and Kierra Reippel each had an RBI while Payton Chapel scored two runs and Saige Lehman, Kiscadden, Kaylee Graham, Addie Smith and Kameron Lightner each scored a run. 

Paige Logsdon started for the Lady Horents and threw one inning, allowing 8 runs (5 earned) on 3 hits with 6 walks and a strikeout. Freshman Bailee Confer threw the final three innings, allowing 7 runs (all earned) on 4 hits with 9 walks.

The Lady Mounties start the season 1-0 and are scheduled to host Towanda on Thursday, while Wellsboro, 0-1, is back in action Tuesday at Towanda.
