NTL TRACK & FIELD: NP-MANSFIELD GIRLS SWEEP SEASON OPENING TRI-MEET, BOYS SPLIT (2024-03-26)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportTROY — The North Penn-Mansfield Track & Field teams opened their seasons at Troy on Tuesday, with the girls sweeping Northern Potter and the host Trojans and the boys going 1-1.
The Lady Tigers scored 96 points to top Troy’s 86 and Northern Potter’s 4 points.
NP-Mansfield swept both the 100 and 200 meter dashes as Anna Kennedy was 1st in the 100 in 14.02 while Gabby Bubeck was 2nd in 14.39 and Carolyn Cherwinski was 3rd in 14.68 and Bubeck won the 200 in 29.52 with Kennedy 2nd in 29.57 and Tessa Mitchell 3rd in 31.77.
Addison Farrer won the 1600 in 5:54.37 and Jaci Fairchild was 3rd in 6:09.61 while Fairchild won the 3200 in 13:51.63 and Madalyn Farrer was 2nd in 13:53.26.
Madilynn Scott won the triple jump with a 30-11 and the long jump with a 14-8 while Nora Furry was 2nd in the triple jump with a 27-2 and Carolyn Cherwinski was 2nd in the long jump with a leap of 13-6.
Tierney Patterson won the discus with a throw of 80-6.5 and was 2nd in the javelin with a 67-8. Iris Irwin won the shot put with a 25-7 and Patterson was 2nd with a toss of 25-1.
Nora Furry was 2nd in the 100 hurdles (20.35), 2nd in the high jump (4-2) and 3rd in the 300 hurdles (1:04.34), while Maryn McCarthy finished 2nd in the 400 (1:10.48) and Abaigeal Garverick was 3rd (1:12.50) and Alivia Lisowski finished 3rd in the 800 (3:20.41.
The NP-Mansfield boys scored 46.5 points while the host Trojans had 122 and NoPo had 19.5.
Michael Knefly won two events .. the 1600 in 5:02.49 and the 3200 in 11:15.17 .. and Zack Wilcox won the 800 in 2:12.00. Peter Bishop was 3rd in both the 800 (2:22.59) and in the 1600 (5:07.75) while Charles Aumick was 4th in the 3200 (12:44.58).
Wilcox (40-4) placed 2nd in the triple jump and Brady Stetter (36-4.5) was 4th, while Brayden Johnson (17-8) placed 3rd in the long jump and Stetter (17-6) was 4th. Luke Kreger (5-6) was 3rd in the high jump and Colton Pellet (5-2) was 4th while Luke Sexauer (95-6) was 3rd in the javelin and Caden House (92-0) placed 4th.
Keenan Young (23.49) placed 3rd in the 110 hurdles, Bryce Kent (56.38) finished 3rd in the 300 hurdles and Cedric Miller (57.56) was 4th in the 400.
Both North Penn-Mansfield squads are scheduled to return to action Tuesday with Sayre at Wellsboro.
