WESTFIELD, PA — The Lady Indians used six base hits and six Northern Potter errors to pull away from the Lady Panthers for a 10-0 win in non-league softball action here Wednesday.

A day after pounding out 16 hits in their season opening, 21-2 win over Canton, CV started slower against the first-year varsity Panthers and took a 2-0 lead into the 4th inning. 

Ruby Sherman got CV on the scoreboard in the first inning after walking and eventually scoring on a NoPo error off the bat of Katie Adams, and Maddie Millard made it 2-0 CV in the third when she reached base on a dropped third strike and later scored on another Panther miscue .. this time off the bat of Ashley Woodring. 

In the fourth inning, base hits by Ella Churchill and Sherman and two more fielding errors by Northern Potter plated Churchill, Keyana Thomas and Tabby Piper to put CV up 5-0.

The Lady Indians rallied in the 5th inning and plated five runs to end the 10-0 game early.

Sherman, Logan Hamilton, Adams, Churchill and Piper each had singles in the game while LaBarron had a double. Churchill and Thomas each scored a pair of runs and Millard, Sherman, Hamilton, Adams, LaBarron and Piper each scored once.

Sherman earned the win for CV, going four innings and giving up no runs on two hits and no walks with 10 strikeouts. LaBarron threw the final inning .. walking one and striking out two. 

Cowanesque Valley (2-0) is scheduled to return to action next Tuesday when they host Williamson.
