NTL BASEBALL: WILLIAMSON TOPPED BY SAYRE (2024-03-28)

TIOGA JUNCTION, PA — Williamson was down just a run to Sayre going into the 4th inning here Thursday, but a pair of big innings lifted the Redskins to a 16-2 win over the Warriors in NTL baseball action. 

Sayre jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning and Williamson got one run back in the 2nd as Jack Nolan singled and Westin Copp would drive him in to cut the Sayre lead to 2-1. A scoreless 3rd inning was followed by a 5-run Sayre 4th and the Warriors scored their final run in the bottom of the 5th as Copp led off the inning with a single and would later score on a single off the bat of Christian Ling. 

Sayre tacked on two runs in the 6th and plated seven runs in the 7th to provide the 16-2 final.

Sawyer Carleton started on the mound for Williamson and was tagged with the loss after going five innings and allowing seven runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks with eight strikeouts. Seth Zimmerman finished the game, throwing two innings and giving up nine runs (two earned) on six hits and six walks with two Ks. 

Williamson was hurt by nine errors in the loss and collected seven hits on the day, led by Danny Smith and Nolan each with two hits and each with a double. Ling, Cilino and Copp each had a hit, while Ling and Copp each had an RBI and Nolan and Copp each scored a run. 

Williamson (1-2) is scheduled to host Cowanesque Valley either on Tuesday for a 4:30 game or on Monday for a double-header.
