NTL SOFTBALL: TICE REACHES MILESTONE IN NORTH PENN-LIBERTY SHUT-OUT OF TOWANDA (2024-03-28)

Northern Tier WEST Sports Report
MANSFIELD, PA — North Penn-Liberty’s Mackenzi Tice reached a career strikeout milestone and threw a complete game shutout and Addie Smith drove in three runs as the Mounties earned a 4-0 win over the host Lady Knights here Wednesday.

Tice went all seven innings and gave up three hits and a walk while striking out seven. The senior Penn College-commit went over 400 career K’s in the win, and also got the Lady Mounties on the board to start the game.

Tice doubled to lead off the first inning and would later score on a Smith sac bunt to give NP-Liberty the early, 1-0 lead. After a scoreless second, the Mounties got a lead-off single from Nikki Kiscadden in the bottom of the third inning, followed by Tice reaching on a dropped 3rd strike and a Haley Litzelman walk that loaded the bases.

Kiscadden scored on a passed ball and Smith delivered a double to score Tice and Litzelman and the Mounties took a 4-0 lead that they’d make stand. Tice retired the next 10 batters she faced and the final two to seal the Mountie win.

Tice had two base hits, with a double, and scored two runs while Smith had a double and three RBI. Saige Lehman had a pair of hits while Kiscadden and Megan Spohn had one each. Litzelman and Kiscadden each added a run scored.

Liberty (2-0) is scheduled to return to action Monday when they host Hughesville.
