NTL SOFTBALL: LADY MOUNTIES STAY PERFECT WITH WIN OVER WYALUSING (2024-04-19)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportMANSFIELD, PA — North Penn-Liberty gave up two first-inning runs to Wyalusing here Friday, but Mackenzi Tice allowed just a single base hit the rest of the way and the Lady Mounties cruised to a 10-2, large school win over the Lady Rams.
Tice went all seven innings for the Mounties and allowed two earned runs on three hits and a lone walk while striking out 10 Lady Rams. The senior also had a base hit and scored twice.
Liberty answered Wyalusing’s two-run first inning with two of their own in the bottom half as Tice singled and would score on a Saige Lehman single, who then scored on a Haley Litzelman double .. one of three Mountie extra-base hits in the win.
The Mounties added a run in the third inning when Megan Spohn hit a double and would later score on a passed ball, and scored two more runs in the fourth inning when Payton Chapel singled, Nikki Kiscadden reached on a fielder’s choice and scored on a Wyalusing error off Tice’s bat and Tice eventually stole home to put Liberty up 5-2.
NPL sealed the win with a five-run fifth inning highlighted by an Addie Smith double, three walks (Chapel, Kiscadden and Lehman) and a single by Litzelman.
Litzelman had two hits in the win and had an RBI, while Smith had a double and scored a run, Spohn had a double and scored twice, Chapel had a hit and Lehman had a hit, an RBI and scored twice. Kiscadden scored the Mounties’ remaining two runs.
NP-Liberty, now 10-0 on the season, is scheduled to travel to Corning (NY) on Monday to take on the Lady Hawks.
