NTWSR PRESENTS THE LAUREL HEALTH 'ATHLETES OF THE WEEK' (2024-04-21)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportTIOGA COUNTY — Wellsboro sophomore Marek Mascho (baseball) and Hornet freshman Piper Hoprich (T&F) are this week’s Laurel Health ‘Athletes of the Week’ .
Marek Mascho and the Hornet baseball team played five games this week. Mascho had two hits, two RBI and scored two runs in a 12-4 win over Coudersport, then had two base hits and scored twice in Wellsboro’s 12-2 win over CV. In a pair of 12-2 losses to Troy, Mascho collected four base hits .. including a 3-3 performance in Game 1 .. and in their 13-4 loss to Jersey Shore, Mascho had two of Wellsboro’s seven base hits.
Piper Hoprich won two individual events in a tri-meet with Wyalusing and Sayre .. the 100 yard dash (12.44 new school record) and the 200 (26.50) .. and was on two of Wellsboro’s three relay wins .. the 4x100 (52.30) and the 4x400 (4:29.40).
Hoprich won the 200 meter dash (26.88) at the Bald Eagle Classic at Lock Haven University and was second in the 100 (12.94).
