NTL SOFTBALL: COWANESQUE VALLEY EARNS SMALL SCHOOL WIN OVER NEB (2024-04-22)

ROME, PA — Cowanesque Valley pounded out 15 hits and scored the game’s final nine runs in topping the Northeast Bradford Lady Panthers 13-4 in NTL small school softball play Monday.

The Lady Indians got home runs from Ruby Sherman and Keyana Thomas and collected five extra base hits in the win.

NEB took an early lead with three runs in the bottom of the first inning before CV rallied to take the lead with four runs in the top of the second. Singles by Katie Adams, Thomas, Tabitha Piper and Sherman helped the Indians to a 4-3 lead. The Panthers tied the game at four in the third inning, but CV scored nine runs in the final four innings to secure the win. 

Sherman (HR, 1B, 1B, 3 RBI, R) and Thomas (HR, 3B, 1B, 3 RBI, 3R) each had three base hits, while Zeraya Wilson (2B, 1B, RBI, R), Adams (3B, 1B, 3R), Piper (1B, 1B, 2R) and McKenna Cary (1B, 1B, 2RBI, R) each had two hits, Logan Hamilton (1B, R) had one and Maddie Millard scored a run. 

Sherman got the win for CV, going seven innings and allowing four runs on five base hits and two walks with six strikeouts. 

Cowanesque Valley improves to 9-2 on the season with the win, including a 6-0 mark in the small school division. They’re scheduled to visit Canton on Tuesday. The Indians beat the Lady Warriors 21-2 in their season opener.
